October 1 - the final photos of the season
After a full summer of photographing hummingbirds in Maryland, it is time to set the camera aside (at least with regard to these little angels) and take a break until next spring. The last few months have been filled with thrills and, well, a lot of patience. Sitting in wait for the birds to hover amongst the flowers behind my house took up quite a bit of my mornings. Before I knew it, four hours past me by. Did I waist my time? Could I have done something more productive? In a word, no. When I look back at the thousands of photos (most not worth posting), I find some real gems that made it all worthwhile.
These are my last two photos of the season that I took this morning. I think they are a perfect pair of this little beauty to finish out with. As I go through the photos from 2026, I’ll post more, but these are the final two that I took.
