Great Falls

from $400.00

The Great Falls along the Potomac just outside of Washington, DC, is a spectacular site. It is a real challenge to capture, though. The falls are not particularly high and they are spread out, but the rocky formations that divide the river create a painterly setting. This overcast day was not looking to be a great day to shoot the falls. Surprisingly, it made for a better opportunity that expected. The strength and timelessness of the scene gave me a sense of calm even with the constant roar of the rushing water. These are treacherous and hazardous waters, but are soothing to view.
